Most of the third finger is taken up by the monastic republic of Athos. More than 2000 Orthodox monks in 20 monasteries live here cut off from the outside world. Only men are allowed to visit. With the rental car you get to the port city of Ouranoupolis. A crossing to the nearby island of Ammouliani is very interesting
